(Heck, even the Ederol/Presonus/MOTU level converters sound really good these days. Not only is this not out of reach, it's actually really affordable to have a very audiophile setup now. You could pick up a 1st gen Apogee Duet for $200 that would blow away $10,000 worth of analog vinyl gear that was your only 'audiophile' option 20 years ago. I don't hear the "sound" of the format anymore. 24/96 digital through my Apogee converters trumps everything. I started out as that snobby analog guy with the expensive turntable setup (that I'm still very happy to have) and always hated the chirpy sound of CD's. CD is one of the earliest digital formats from over 30 years ago!
